“A good drawer-er” is how one artist friend describes me. I think it’s meant as a compliment and I do love drawing.
I use it to represent the patterns of nature, its textures, tones and endless shapes, producing almost photographic portraits of cats and botanical subjects. Sometimes though, I swop my fine sable for a large bristle to work on abstract seascapes. Our wonderful British coastline is a continual source of inspiration. As a child I grew up in sight of the sea.
After training in graphic design, I was lucky enough to be employed by Woman’s Weekly magazine, drawing diagrams for the home and craft pages.
Now I can draw for pleasure rather than for a salary and hope in time to become an even better “drawer-er”.
